IT Project Manager

Position Overview

Reporting to the VP of Technology in the Information Technology department based in our New York City office, responsible for oversight of all stages of software development and integration projects from proposal and requirements definition to estimates, project planning, development, deployment, tracking, resource management, as well as alignment with the various business groups and clients.

Job Responsibilities

Manage the software development project lists

  • Meet with various departments to ensure priorities are aligned to allocated resources
  • Estimate tracking, prioritization within projects, project scheduling, milestone planning and tracking and status reporting
  • Provide a proactive interface between internal customers and the development staff to set appropriate expectations for deliverables and timelines
  • Assist with generating and maintaining technology roadmaps

 

Manage client engagements and needs assessment for targeted customers

  • Work with the IT Enterprise Solutions team to ensure new client onboarding/expansion includes planning for any needed development
  • Generate technology cost outlines for certain client related development projects or initiatives
  • Alert management to any potential misalignments or client impact before escalations occur

 

Manage details for high-value/high-cost/high-risk projects to ensure efficient execution

  • Establish list of proper candidate projects for this detailed level of support
  • Manage and prioritize multiple, parallel projects using project planning techniques and software through all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Facilitate design and review sessions with technical and business team to create an inventory of all requirements and associated tasks
  • Collaborate with product and development resources to identify inter-relationships of tasks and their impact on timeline
  • Document functional specifications based on requirements received by and developed with business owners including prototyping
  • Meet with assigned product, development and QA teams to confirm tasks are proceeding according to timeline

 

Support the release process for special projects that require advance planning and/or post support

  • Facilitate release planning for EDI/API projects where synchronization is required with external trading partners (vendors and/or clients)
  • Collaborate with department staff and product team to identify projects that require user training or procedural updates to ensure users are ready for releases
  • Work with product team to notify the company of new and interesting features
Skills/Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Five or more years’ experience in project management and customer relationship management within a software related culture
  • At least three years of experience working in high traffic GUI applications (client server and/or internet environments)
  • Experience with system integrations; both external EDI/API AND internal service-based architectures
  • Prior experience as a Developer, QA Analyst, and/or Product Manager a plus
  • Experience in 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) a plus
