Position Overview
As a Director of Solutions Engineering, you will collaborate and manage a team of Solutions Engineers while working cross functionally with sales executives, the Project Management Office, operations experts, regional leadership, and other teams to ensure the successful design and implementation of bespoke logistics solutions. Our Solutions Engineers are operationally savvy, client-centric, and experts in leveraging Choice’s in-house technology platforms and operational capabilities to deliver high quality and performance to some of the world’s leading technology partners.
Job Responsibilities
Work Management
- Oversee work products of the Solutions Engineering team and provide guidance on the quality and precision of documentation
- Establish and iteratively maintain clear standards and documentation for the Solutions Engineering Team. Including but not limited to intake & governance processes, tools & templates, and inter-departmental operational guidelines
- Maintain close communication and adherence to dependent processes with FP&A, Legal, PMO, and other teams necessary to the success of related Solutions Engineering objectives
- Assume a hybrid role by performing some or all of a solutioning effort, as project complexity and/or company volume merits
- Engage cross-functionally throughout implementation to develop, validate and refine business solutions
- Liaise with clients for the development of logistics strategies and solutions
- Provide strategic guidance in the assessment of client goals and strategies
- Develop comprehensive design documents, process workflows, and proposal
Engagement
- Foster relationships and communication channels with key stakeholders across all business units, enabling priority alignment and buy-in to accomplish key objectives
- Serve as lead engagement point to help resolve relevant internal and client escalations
- Provide ongoing professional development and knowledge share to team members; including team standard processes, resource management, company practices & systemic capabilities, and industry best practices
- Collaboratively partner with relevant business units to drive continuous innovation of process; both within Solutions Engineering as well as part of broader workstreams
- Present to and secure buy-in from Choice management team for fundamental process enhancements; complex solution development & approval; other escalations as needed
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, supply chain, or related discipline
- 7+ years Solution Engineering / Pre-Sales, Client Management, Process Management, or Program Management experience required
- Experience advising and managing a team of strategic thinkers
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders and tell a compelling story across all organizational levels
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to lead with empathy to resolve conflicts
- Demonstrated ability to build and execute problem-satisfying programs for clients
- Excellent program management and organizational skills, with experience organizing and running business workstreams and routines
- Experience dissecting sophisticated problems, analyzing potential solutions, and independently solving, where feasible
- Proven track record of cross-functional leadership across process design, operations, sales, and enablement
- Industry experience is a plus
- PMP certification preferred
